Overview
The AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C revision) represent the pinnacle of the true wireless earbud experience for Apple users. Powered by the H2 chip, they deliver dramatically improved active noise cancellation - up to 2x more effective than the original AirPods Pro - along with Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, and a new volume swipe gesture. With the 2023 USB-C update, they gained IP54 dust and water resistance for both the earbuds and the case, plus the U1 chip with Precision Finding for the charging case. For iPhone users, there’s simply nothing else at this level of ecosystem integration at $249.
Design & Build
The design is nearly identical to the original AirPods Pro, with the same stem-based form factor with force sensors. The silicone ear tips now come in four sizes (XS, S, M, L) for a better fit. The MagSafe Charging Case now features a built-in speaker for Find My alerts and a lanyard loop, making it much easier to locate. The case supports MagSafe, Qi, and even Apple Watch chargers. IP54 dust and water resistance on both the earbuds and case is a meaningful upgrade over the original’s IPX4 rating. At 5.3 grams per earbud, they remain among the most comfortable true wireless earbuds for long listening sessions.
Performance
The H2 chip is the star of the show. Active noise cancellation is genuinely excellent - on par with the Sony WF-1000XM5 and significantly better than the first-gen AirPods Pro. The Adaptive Transparency mode is a standout feature, dynamically reducing loud environmental noises (sirens, construction) while still letting you hear your surroundings naturally. Sound quality has been meaningfully improved, with a custom high-excursion driver and a high dynamic range amplifier delivering deeper bass, cleaner mids, and extended treble. Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking creates an immersive listening experience that adapts to your head shape.
Features
Conversation Awareness is a thoughtful addition - when you start speaking, the volume lowers and transparency engages automatically. The swipe gesture on the stem for volume control is intuitive and works well. Battery life is rated at 6 hours with ANC on (up from 4.5 hours on the original) and over 30 hours with the case. The U1 chip in the case enables Precision Finding via the Find My app, showing you the exact distance and direction to your misplaced case. Voice Isolation during calls is dramatically improved, making you sound clear even in noisy environments.
Pros
- Excellent active noise cancellation (2x better than original)
- Best-in-class ecosystem integration for iPhone users
- Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking
- IP54 dust and water resistance on earbuds and case
Cons
- Still Lightning/USB-C only - no wireless audio passthrough
- Sound signature is excellent but not the most detailed for audiophiles
- Case is not USB-C by default (requires 2023 revision)
- Android users miss most of the smart features
Verdict
The AirPods Pro 2 are the definitive true wireless earbuds for iPhone users, offering the perfect blend of ANC performance, sound quality, comfort, and deep ecosystem integration. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, there’s no better choice, earning it a 9.0/10.

How We Rate Products
Every product on ComfyTechCheck is scored on a 1 to 10 scale based on a structured evaluation framework. We assess products across five core criteria:
- Performance (30% weight): Speed, responsiveness, and real-world capability in its category.
- Build & Design (20% weight): Material quality, ergonomics, and aesthetic appeal.
- Features (20% weight): Breadth and usefulness of included functionality.
- Value (20% weight): Price-to-performance ratio relative to direct competitors.
- Battery Life or Reliability (10% weight): Endurance testing for portable devices, or long-term dependability for stationary gear.
Scores are assigned by our editorial team after hands-on testing or extensive research using verified user reports, expert analysis, and technical specifications. The weighted average produces the final rating you see on each review. This methodology is inspired by established consumer review standards from organizations such as Consumer Reports and Which?, adapted for the tech product categories we cover.
