Design & Build

The star here is the 6 GHz dedicated backhaul - the nodes spoke to each other with minimal latency, and roaming between nodes was seamless during video calls and game downloads. The quad-core 1.7 GHz processor handles heavy traffic well; we pushed 25+ devices simultaneously without noticeable degradation. The range on the 6 GHz band is predictably shorter than 5 GHz, so node placement matters more than with Wi-Fi 6.
Features
TP-Link’s HomeShield offers basic security (IoT protection, parental controls, weekly reports) for free, but the advanced features like real-time threat prevention and deep packet inspection require a subscription ($5.99/mo). The Deco app is clean and intuitive, though power users will miss a proper web interface. It lacks VLAN support and advanced QoS tweaking, which may disappoint enthusiasts.
